(Public Health Analist) As a Public Health Analyst, you are a crucial link in improving public health. For a position as Public Health Analyst, you need at least an HBO bachelor's degree in for example Applied Health Sciences, Biomedical Sciences or Statistics, but often a university master's degree is preferred in Public Health, Epidemiology or Health Sciences. If you want to pursue this direction via HAVO/VWO, you should choose the Nature & Health (N&G) profile, where subjects like mathematics, biology and chemistry are essential for your follow-up studies. A strong mathematical foundation is crucial because of the statistical nature of the work. Experience with data analysis and statistical software can sometimes partially compensate for lower prior education, but the complexity of epidemiological studies generally does require a solid scientific background.
As a Public Health Analyst, you can advance from positions such as data analyst, research assistant or epidemiological employee. In this role, you develop expertise in health data analysis and policy development, which prepares you for senior positions such as chief analyst, public health policy advisor or prevention program manager. With experience, you can progress to leadership positions such as head of epidemiology department or director of public health. The field is growing strongly due to increasing attention to prevention and data-driven healthcare policy, which offers excellent career opportunities.
