Career Prospects

## Career Prospects Social Work After completing the HBO Social Work program, diverse opportunities open up in the broad field of social services and community work. Graduates find work as social workers, family coaches, youth workers or case managers within various organizations. The public sector offers opportunities at municipalities, GGDs and youth care organizations, while the private sector creates possibilities at welfare institutions, health insurers and consulting firms. Many social workers specialize in specific target groups such as elderly care, disability care or addiction issues. Functions in education, as school social workers, or in healthcare as medical social workers are also common career paths. Growth opportunities to management positions, policy officer or independent practice holder are also available. Expected Developments Opportunities arise from the aging population, which increases demand for elderly care and informal care support. The growing attention for preventive care and early detection creates new fields of work. Threats include budget cuts on social provisions and the trend toward digitalization, which requires more self-reliance from clients. Work pressure and emotional burden also remain challenges in this demanding professional field.

Impact of AI on this program

AI is transforming the HBO Social Work study program by preparing students for new technologies in the social sector, such as data-driven decision making and online support services. New topics such as ethics in AI, digital inclusion and technology-driven care are becoming increasingly relevant. For graduates, new career prospects emerge in data analysis, digital counseling and innovative care models. This makes social workers not only facilitators of change, but also strategic planners who use technology for better social outcomes.
