What is gliding?

Who is gliding suitable for?

👩‍✈️ Whether you're 14 or 80 years old, gliding is for everyone who dares to take on the challenge. The minimum age to start is 14 years, but there's no maximum age limit. Of course, you do need to be able to handle the physical and mental demands of the sport. A medical examination is mandatory, but don't worry, glasses are not a problem.

How do you learn to glide?

📚 The learning process begins with an introductory flight, so you can experience whether this sport is something for you. This is followed by training that consists of both theory and practical lessons. You start in a two-seater with an instructor and master the basic principles. After about 50-80 launches, depending on your commitment and frequency, you can fly solo.

Requirements and costs

💶 Besides the medical examination, there are no specific physical requirements. Regarding costs: club membership costs an average of €1000 per year, including unlimited launches and use of club aircraft. For young people under 21, discounts are often available.

Where can you glide in the Netherlands?

📍 Throughout the Netherlands, there are various gliding clubs where you can go. From the Gooise Zweefvliegclub in Hilversum to the Friese Aero Club in Friesland, there's always a club near you.
