The Edison is one of the oldest music awards in the Netherlands. The award, named after inventor Thomas Edison, has been presented since 1960 to artists who distinguish themselves in a special way within the music industry. Each year, three artists are nominated for each category. From pop to rock, from young talents to established names. Read on quickly and find out who won awards at the 65th edition of the Edison Awards!

Lifetime Achievement Award | De Jeugd Van Tegenwoordig

"De Jeugd van Tegenwoordig not only changed the Dutch language with their debut single 'Watskeburt', but also immediately set their unique musical path. Now they are honored with the Edison POP Lifetime Achievement Award 2025, recognizing their immense contribution to Dutch music" (Edisons, 2025).

Best Album | Froukje with 'Noodzakelijk Verdriet'

This is not the first Edison that Froukje wins in the Best Album category. In 2022 and 2023 she won with 'Licht en Donker' and 'Uitzinnig'

Best Song | Frenna with Pretty Girl'

This track was released last summer on Frenna's album PINK SUMMER' and since then you can't sit still when this song is played. Frenna started his career in a rap group called SFB (Strictly Family Business) and in 2016 he broke through as a solo artist.

Pop | Roxy Dekker

This 20-year-old artist released her first album Mama i made it' just before the Edisons and almost all her songs are in the Dutch top 50! Roxy Dekker became known through her participation in the Junior Song Festival and then started writing her own songs on TikTok.

Hollands | Yves Berendsen

The oh so famous song Terug in de tijd' also became the number one hit of the Netherlands last year, after it went viral on TikTok. The single was already released in the summer of 2023, but was only discovered later. Yves Berendse started his career more than ten years ago and first appeared on television during a talent show.

Nederlandstalig | Eefje de Visser

This is not the first Edison that Eefje may place in her cabinet, but she is winning in this category for the first time. She previously won in the alternative and best album category in 2020. The Edisons jury shares the following opinion: "Eefje de Visser is in top form on this album, with beautiful harmonies and layered compositions" (Edisons, 2025).

Rock | Personal Trainer

On their album 'Still Willing' the band presents a unique mix of hard, soft, theatrical and danceable music. According to the jury, it creates a creative and vibrant listening experience.

HipHop | Rapper Fresku

For this rapper it's his first Edison Award! In his album he shares his insecurities, fears and dreams, making it relatable for listeners.

Dance | KI/KI

KI/KI is the first woman in 20 years to receive the award in this category. She writes on her Instagram a message for all queers and women: "KEEP ON ROCKING AND KEEP ON KILLING IT OUT THERE"

Alternative | Néomie

Her debut is vulnerable, honest and surprising. According to the Edison jury, the artist manages to distinguish herself by creatively experimenting with autotune (Edisons, 2025).

Soul/R&B/Funk | Bnnyhunna

The 27-year-old Bnnyhunna immediately won an Edison Award with his debut album called 'Echoes of Prayer'. Bnnyhuna has a deep connection with African-American music styles like jazz and afrobeat. His real name is Benjamin Ankomah.

Newcomer | Elmer

Rapper Elmer was able to receive her first Edison Award. Elmer was discovered two years ago by 'De Slimste Mens' and Lowlands. With her debut album 'Platland' she takes the Netherlands and its inhabitants along with poetic, direct lyrics and powerful beats.
