(Bartender) As a bartender, you prepare cocktails, mixed drinks, and other alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages for guests in bars, restaurants, clubs, or hotels. You take orders, advise customers on drinks, and ensure a welcoming atmosphere behind the bar. Additionally, you keep the bar clean and organized, manage the inventory of drinks and ingredients, and collaborate with the service team and kitchen to provide an optimal guest experience. You often work rotating shifts, including weekends and during busy evening hours.
As a bartender, you can start as a barback or server to learn the basics of the hospitality industry. With experience, you can advance to head bartender, bar manager, or mixologist in high-end cocktail bars. Further growth opportunities lie in opening your own establishment, becoming a beverage director in hotels, or providing bartender training. AI technology influences your work through smart POS systems that automatically process orders and track inventory. Robotic bartenders may prepare simple drinks in the future, but your personal interaction with guests and creativity with cocktails remains valuable.
