(Financieel Analist) The Financial Analyst is responsible for analyzing financial data and developing reports to assess the financial health of an organization. Daily, he/she works with financial models and budgets, and makes insights accessible to the management team. The analyst works in an office environment, often within a team of other analysts and accountants. This work has a direct impact on strategic decisions, from cost savings to investment choices. For tasks such as preparing financial forecasts and advising departments on budgets, extensive models and analyses are required.

What doet Financial Analyst ?
For a position as Financial Analyst, you typically need an HBO or university education, for example in business economics, finance, accounting or economics. In secondary school, the Economics & Society (E&M) profile is most suitable, with strong performance in mathematics and economics as an important foundation for financial analyses. Good command of mathematics is essential, as you work daily with complex financial models and calculations. While a relevant HBO or WO degree is strongly preferred, candidates with an MBO-4 education in financial services or accounting can sometimes grow into this function through years of practical experience and additional courses.
As a Financial Analyst, you build on experience as a Junior Analyst or Accounting Assistant and can grow to Senior Financial Analyst or Finance Manager. From this role, there are excellent opportunities to move into functions such as Controller, Treasury Manager or even CFO. The demand for financial professionals remains high due to increasing regulation and the need for data-driven decision making, which ensures stable career prospects in various sectors.
AI transforms the role of the financial analyst by automating repetitive tasks such as data analysis and reporting. This enables analysts to focus more on strategic decisions and advice. New skills, such as data processing, knowledge of machine learning and interpretation of AI-driven insights, are becoming increasingly important. Despite the threat of automation in lower functions, there is a growing need for financial analysts who can use AI tools, which positively influences the prospects for this role.
