What does a Event Manager?

(Event Manager) As an Event Manager within the organization, you are the central figure in creating and realizing events of various scales. In this role, you not only plan and coordinate business meetings, conferences, and networking events, but also company presentations and workshops that strengthen the brand. Your daily activities are diverse; from developing an event concept to managing budgets, negotiating with suppliers, and igniting enthusiasm among team members and participants. You work in a dynamic environment where teamwork and creativity are highly valued, with numerous opportunities to further develop your organizational skills. What makes this position truly interesting is the impact you have on both the organization and the participants. Your events contribute to strengthening business relationships, increasing visibility of services, and providing valuable learning experiences for clients. You not only create a unique experience for each participant, but also a lasting impression of the company. Besides the creative aspects of organizing, you also face necessary challenges. From time pressure and unexpected changes in planning to coordinating different stakeholders – every day is a new challenge that requires flexibility and stress resistance. As an Event Manager, you are responsible for ensuring the quality and success of each event, which makes this role both challenging and extremely satisfying. If you are ready to use your talents for an impactful career then this position is truly something for you!

Required Education

For Event Manager, an HBO degree is typically required, preferably in communication, marketing, hospitality management, or commercial economics. In high school, the Economics & Society (E&M) profile is most suitable, where subjects like economics and Dutch are important for budget management and communication skills. While an HBO diploma is the standard, candidates with an MBO degree in events, marketing, or tourism & recreation can also have opportunities if they have extensive practical experience organizing events. Practical experience and demonstrable results in event management often weigh heavily in the selection process.

AI Impact on the job

AI transforms the role of Event Manager by automating routine tasks such as registration and data analysis. This allows Event Managers to focus more on strategic planning and creativity.
