You manage your own studio, prepare canvases and materials, and constantly experiment with new techniques and color combinations. Additionally, you maintain contact with gallery owners, art collectors, and potential buyers to exhibit and sell your work.
As a painter, you can start as an illustrator, decorative painter, or assistant in a studio to gain practical experience. By developing your own style and building a portfolio, you grow into an independent artist, gallery artist, or art teacher. Further career steps lead to renowned artist, curator, or owner of an art gallery. Although the art world is competitive, digital platforms and growing interest in original art offer new opportunities for creative entrepreneurs.
AI tools like DALL-E and Midjourney are changing the art world, but they don't replace the unique human creativity and emotional expression of hand-painted works. You can use AI as a source of inspiration for compositions or color schemes, but the physical skills of handling brushes and mixing paint remain essential. The demand for authentic, handmade art may actually increase as a reaction to digital oversaturation. You do need to master digital platforms for marketing and selling your artworks.
