Career Prospects

After completing the MBO Green/Landscaper program, excellent career prospects await you in a dynamic and growing sector. As a graduate you can find work at landscaping companies, municipal green services, landscape architecture firms and park management organizations. Typical positions are landscaper, garden designer, government green services provider, or specialist in ecological green management. Many graduates start as executive landscapers and grow into management positions or start their own landscaping business. The sector offers opportunities in both the private market, where garden maintenance and design are becoming increasingly popular, and in the business market with project developers and housing associations. There are also opportunities in the public sector with municipalities and provinces investing in green urban development. Expected Developments The prospects for graduates are excellent due to increasing interest in sustainability, climate adaptation and green living environments. Trends such as urban biodiversity, climate-resilient gardens and nature-inclusive construction are creating new employment opportunities. Threats include increasing competition from cheaper providers and automation of certain maintenance work, which requires specialization and continuous skills development.

Impact of AI on this program

AI is becoming increasingly important in the green sector for optimizing irrigation systems and monitoring plant health through sensors and apps. You learn to work with digital garden design software and apps for plant recognition and disease identification. Drones are used for inspecting large green areas, and you learn how smart technology can help with efficient green maintenance and sustainable horticulture.
