(Kinderpsycholoog) As a child psychologist, you are an indispensable support for children and young people dealing with emotional, social, or behavioral challenges. You investigate what's happening through observations, conversations, diagnostic research, and collaboration with the child and their environment. You help young people better understand their feelings, thoughts, and experiences and guide them in developing healthy coping strategies. In doing so, you use various forms of therapy, such as cognitive behavioral therapy, play therapy, or system-oriented interventions, depending on what best supports the child. You create a safe, trusted, and empathetic environment where children feel free to express themselves without judgment. By following their pace and placing their world of experience at the center, you build a strong therapeutic relationship that is essential for growth and change. You give children practical tools to deal with stress, anxiety, sadness, anger, or social challenges, and you help them gradually build more self-confidence and resilience. Additionally, you work intensively with parents, caregivers, teachers, and other involved professionals. You actively involve them in the process, so that support for the child continues outside the treatment room. You provide advice, psycho-education, and tools to positively influence the child's behavior, emotions, and development.
