What will you learn?

(Commerciele Economie en Ondernemerschap) In the AD Commercial Economics and Entrepreneurship, you learn to understand the practical side of business, with a focus on commercial activities and entrepreneurial skills. You take subjects such as marketing and communication, sales and account management, business economics and financial management, market research and consumer behavior, and entrepreneurship and innovation. Additionally, you develop essential skills such as presenting, negotiating, project management, and digital marketing via social media and e-commerce platforms. What makes this AD unique compared to a full HBO bachelor's is the direct focus on practical applications within two years, allowing you to enter the job market faster. The program contains extensive practical components such as setting up your own business plan, internships at local companies, collaboration with real clients from SMEs, and organizing commercial events. This program is perfect for you if you are practically oriented, want to start working quickly, are entrepreneurial, and have an interest in the commercial side of business without wanting to study for four years first.

Required Education

For admission to this AD, you need at least an MBO-4 diploma, preferably in an economic direction such as Commerce, Marketing or Entrepreneurship, or a HAVO diploma. With HAVO, the profile Culture & Society (C&M) or Economics & Society (E&M) fits best, because these profiles contain subjects such as economics, business economics and social sciences that directly connect to the program. VWO diploma holders can also apply, with the same profiles being applicable. Relevant subjects in secondary school are economics, business economics, mathematics (for financial calculations), Dutch (for communication skills) and English (for international trade). Some universities of applied sciences do not have additional admission requirements, but may conduct a motivation interview. Alternative admission pathways exist for adults without the right preliminary education through an admission test or demonstrating relevant work experience in commercial functions, where you must be at least 21 years old.

Starting salaries are typically between €2,200 and €2,800 gross per month, depending on the sector and company. For career advancement, you can progress after your AD to the full HBO bachelor's Commercial Economics or International Business, which gives you access to higher management functions, or you can specialize in areas such as digital marketing or international trade by taking additional courses or certifications.

Impact of AI on this program
