What will you learn?

(Finance) In the AD Finance program, you learn all aspects of financial management and administration that are crucial in business. You develop practical skills in bookkeeping, budgeting, tax matters, credit management, and financial analysis. Subjects such as business economics, financial reporting, cost control, and corporate law form the foundation of your education. Additionally, you work with professional software packages like Excel, SAP, and other financial systems used in practice. This AD program distinguishes itself from a full HBO bachelor's degree through its direct focus on practical financial work without extensive theoretical depth. You work on concrete projects such as preparing budgets for real companies and analyzing financial performance. Internships at accounting firms, financial departments of companies, or at banks are an integral part of the education. This program is perfect for you if you are numerically strong, work in a structured manner, and want to monitor and improve the financial health of organizations.

Required Education

For admission to AD Finance, you need at least an MBO level 4 diploma, preferably in an economic field such as Business Administration or Financial Services. With a HAVO diploma, you are also welcome, where the Economics & Society (E&M) profile fits best because this profile combines economics and mathematics that are essential for financial calculations. The Culture & Society (C&M) profile can also be suitable if you have taken mathematics A or B. VWO students with E&M or N&T profiles also have good prospects due to their mathematical background. Specifically, subjects such as economics and mathematics (at least mathematics A) are strongly recommended because you work daily with numbers, percentages, and financial models. Some universities of applied sciences have additional requirements such as a motivation letter or intake interview. As alternative admission, you can also be admitted through the 21+ regulation with relevant work experience in the financial sector and an MBO level 3 diploma plus additional courses.

Career Prospects

After completing AD Finance, you can immediately start working as a junior financial administrator, assistant controller, credit manager, or tax consultant at accounting firms, administrative offices, or in financial departments of companies. You find work in various sectors such as business services, industry, healthcare organizations, municipalities, or at banks and insurers. As a starter, you can expect a salary between €2,200 and €2,800 gross per month, depending on the employer and region. With experience, you grow into positions such as financial administrator, controller, or credit management specialist with salaries up to €3,500-4,000. A major advantage is that after your AD, you can progress to the third year of an HBO bachelor's program in Finance & Control or Business Economics, which further expands your career opportunities toward management positions.

Impact of AI on this program
