What will you learn?

(Bedrijfskunde) In the AD Business Administration program, you learn all aspects of running a business, from finance to marketing and from human resources to logistics. You take courses such as business economics, marketing, organization & management, financial management, legal aspects, and project management. Communication, presentation skills, and Excel/data processing are also central. This AD distinguishes itself from a full HBO bachelor's degree through its practical approach and shorter study duration, allowing you to enter the business world more quickly. During the program, you work on realistic business cases, conduct market research for real clients, and do internships at SME companies or larger organizations. The program is perfect for MBO graduates who have broad interests in business operations and want to quickly advance to management positions, or for HAVO graduates who want to study in a practice-oriented way.

Required Education

For admission to AD Business Administration, you need at least an MBO level 4 diploma in a relevant field such as Commerce, Entrepreneurship, or Business Administration. You can also enter directly with a HAVO diploma, where the Culture & Society (C&M) or Economics & Society (E&M) profile fits best because you have already gained knowledge of economics, management & organization, and social sciences. These subjects form the foundation for business concepts that you further develop in the AD program. You can also enter with a VWO diploma, although this is less common given the practical nature. There are no specific admission requirements like mathematics or modern foreign languages, but basic knowledge of Dutch and English is important for communication and reporting. As alternative admission, you can also be accepted with work experience in business and a 21+ test.

Career Prospects

After your AD Business Administration, you can work as assistant manager, team leader, account manager, commercial employee, or project coordinator at SME companies, retail chains, logistics companies, or service organizations. Positions such as business controller, marketing employee, or HR assistant are also among the possibilities. The starting salary is typically between €2,200 and €2,800 gross per month, depending on the sector and region. With a few years of experience, you can advance to management positions such as department manager, branch manager, or entrepreneur. Additionally, you can use your AD as a stepping stone to a full HBO bachelor's degree in Business Administration or Commercial Economics, where you can often enter directly in the third year and thus obtain your bachelor's degree within one additional year.
