This AD distinguishes itself from a full HBO bachelor's degree through its strong focus on practical applications and directly applicable skills in the smart technology sector. You work on real projects such as developing smart healthcare technology, automation systems for industry, or sustainable energy solutions. Required Education

For admission to AD Smart Technology, you need at least an MBO-4 diploma in a technical field such as Electrical Engineering, ICT, Mechatronics, or Technical Computer Science. You can also enter directly with a HAVO diploma, where the Nature & Technology (N&T) or Nature & Health (N&G) profile is most suitable due to the strong foundation in mathematics, physics, and possibly computer science. These subjects are essential because during the program you must understand complex technical concepts and perform mathematical calculations for sensor calibration and data analysis. VWO students are also admitted and may benefit from accelerated programs. Specifically, mathematics B and physics are mandatory subjects for HAVO/VWO students. Some universities of applied sciences have additional admission requirements such as a motivation letter or technical assessment to test your affinity with smart technology. As alternative admission, you may also qualify with an MBO-4 diploma in related fields and relevant work experience after evaluation of your portfolio.

Starting salaries typically range between €2,400 and €3,200 gross per month, depending on the sector and region. With a few years of experience, you can advance to positions such as Technical Project Manager, Smart Technology Consultant, or Product Owner, with salaries up to €4,500 gross per month. Additionally, this AD offers excellent progression opportunities to the full HBO bachelor's in Technical Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or Applied Physics, further enhancing your chances for management positions and higher salaries.
