What will you learn?

(Smart Media Production) In the AD Smart Media Production program, you learn everything about creating digital media content for various platforms and target audiences. You develop practical skills in video production, graphic design, social media marketing, web design, and content creation. The program combines creative subjects such as photography, video editing, and motion graphics with technical aspects like streaming technology, augmented reality, and data analysis. You learn to work with professional software such as Adobe Creative Suite, Final Cut Pro, and various social media management tools. What makes this AD unique compared to a full bachelor's degree is the strong focus on direct application in the job market, with less theoretical foundation but more hands-on experience. You work on real projects for companies, carry out practical assignments for local organizations, and complete internships at media companies, marketing agencies, or internal communication departments. The program is perfect for creative, digitally savvy students who want to quickly enter the job market in the fast-paced media industry.

Required Education

For admission to Smart Media Production, you need at least an MBO level 4 diploma, preferably in a creative or ICT-related field such as Media Design, ICT, Marketing, or Communication. With a HAVO diploma you are also welcome, where the Culture & Society profile fits best due to subjects like arts and culture, but Economics & Society is also very suitable due to the marketing component. Relevant subjects in secondary school are Dutch (for content creation), mathematics (for technical aspects), art/drawing, and possibly computer science. Many schools require a portfolio with creative work or a motivation letter in which you demonstrate your affinity with media and technology. An interview or intake may be part of the selection process. As alternative admission, you can be admitted with an MBO level 3 diploma plus relevant work experience or a 21+ test, provided you have demonstrable interest and basic skills in media and technology.

For further advancement, you can transfer to the full-time HBO bachelor Communication & Multimedia Design, Creative Media & Game Technologies, or a related bachelor's program, often with exemptions allowing you to graduate at HBO level 6 in 1.5 to 2 years.
